The Different Ways to Publish A Book - Explained In Simple Words #ExpertWriter

Officially, to publish a book, there are three ways: you can either self-publish your book, asking the service of a book publishing house or publishing it as an author by the help of an ancillary service.

The Ancillary Service

Let's explain now the differences between them. Publishing a "as an author" means that you won't publish your book by the help of a book publishing house, but by the help of an ancillary publisher. With an ancillary service, you do not sign a contract and you own all the copyrights of your work. That means you will get the total amount of your selling, but you will still have to pay for their services. Also, you will assume yourself most of the financial requirements such as the printing fees of your book and the publicity fees to promote it, based on your budget. Some book publishing house can do that for you too, but it's normally done by an ancillary service. Again, remember that you are paying them for their services and assuming the publishing and editing fees.

Book Publishing House

On the other side, by choosing to publish your writings through a publishing house, you are bound by a contract. By signing this contract you will not own all the copyrights of your work, but the financial requirements to publish your book are considerably reduced. In fact, you might not pay anything at all for your book editing (printing, publicity, the book cover, etc) and publishing fees, if you choose this service.

This is actually the traditional and the most popular way to promote and publish a book among writers and authors. Now depending of the book publishing house and the contract that you have signed, you will get paid a specific percentage for each book that has been sold. For example, you can get paid 10% of each book sales.

Self-Publishing

Finally, you have the option to self-publish your writings. This option is good for beginners, but it's also good if you know all the steps of a book editing (printing, publicity, the book cover, the legal procedures, etc) and the book publishing procedures. Self-publishing a book is seen as the modern way of publishing a book.

But you can also decide to self-publish it on the internet. For example, you can create your own website and put your work(s) there in e-Book versions. Then, you can promote your books through many ways such as, for example, posting some parts of your book in an online writing community forum. You can also do the same thing on your website to entice your visitors in buying your book. There are also services online to help you self-publish your book, if you do not want to host your books on your website.
